fuckyeahfluiddynamics:

In “Millefiori” artist Fabian Oefner mixes watercolors with ferrofluids to create bright fluid microcosms.  Each photograph represents an area about the size of a thumbnail.  Ferrofluids contain iron-based nanoparticles suspended in a carrier fluid and thus respond to magnetic fields. They can form sharp pointslabyrinthine mazes, or even brain-like patterns depending on the magnetic field and the substances surrounding them.  For more on this art project, see this interview with the artist. (Photo credit: Fabian Oefner)

L’Enfants Bizarre

This is the artwork of Alex CF, master of the morbid and macabre recreations of human skeletons, demons and fairies. He writes short, fictional stories to accompany his pieces. He wrote of this collection:

“Three preserved human fetuses, presented in an antique display cabinet. The first is an altogether healthy fetus, the second suffers Polymelia, six arms, and the final, suffers a rare infection of the Shope papilloma virus, which causes a series of horn like growths in the forehead. These three are part of a large collection of human specimens, afflicted with various genetic diseases.”
